    We need your help on July 17th for All Stars Relays! Please sign up today!

    Hi swim families,

    Shorter summary: On Wednesday, July 17th, LPRC will host the NVSL's All Stars Relays Meet; see below for details. But we need volunteers before, during and after the event and we need people willing to take a leadership role as coordinators. We also need help moving bleachers (sign up at the links above), both through your muscle (probably the Sunday afternoon before, the Tuesday before, the night of around 8PM, and both the day after and the weekend after) and through your full-sized pickup trucks, trailers, and dollies. (Please email me if you can lend these items.) Finally, we need coolers lent (labeled with your name) the night before, preferably filled with ice if you are feeling particularly generous (the ice machines are still being repaired) for our concessions stand. Feel free to sign up right away or to email me with questions, or see below for more detail. NOTE: I came to swim families first because this is a swim meet, but also because swim families are the core of our membership. WORK AT THIS EVENT DOES COUNT TOWARDS YOUR WORK HOURS, but I ask (beg) swim families to volunteer whether or not they need additional work hours, or to consider doing more than the 4 hours required. While new families are exempt from the work requirement, we need you to sign up also. This fundraiser is critical for ongoing repair and improvement efforts at LPRC.

    More detail:This is the second of two years of hosting the event, so existing members know what I'm talking about but new families do not. This is a swim meet of the best relays teams from the entire league (the swimming is fantastic to watch), and a major fundraiser for LPRC! (We made a profit of about $8,500 last year, every dime of which we spent on repairs.) Hundreds of swimmers and thousands of spectators fill our pool and our grounds from 6AM until 8PM; actual swimming is between 4PM and 8PM (although warm ups are earlier); but preparation goes from now until the event, the day before, all day the day of, and there is clean up after. This is an all-hands-on-deck event: we need everyone to go to the Sign Up Genius and sign up for volunteer slots and/or volunteer for a somewhat larger job as a coordinator: you can go to the Coordinator Sign Up Genius to see what those jobs entail. Also, feel free to email me with questions. I never had a bleacher coordinator last year (most of the work is already done) and I lost my porto-pottie coordinator (not glamorous, but necessary), so please consider those jobs.
