We need volunteer help! NVSL training!
Hi again everyone,
Swim team is unusual among youth sports in that the team is MUCH bigger, with many age groups, and the parents have to run and ref the meets. We need help with certain unfilled positions to help Kate and I survive and thrive in the swim season, and mainly to assure the kids have a great season. Please go to this Sign Up Genius and see what you can help us with. We will get you to training or train you ourselves, and none of these jobs is overwhelming. It is rewarding to have a direct hand in running the swim team season. If you have any questions about a particular job, email Kate.
Notice that there are essentially 2 kinds of jobs: coordinator-type roles, in which you help organize and run the meet administratively, and then hands-on meet-running roles like Ref or Stroke and Turn Judge. We need both; to the extent that we don't get the coordinators, the work falls to Kate and me and it's harder to get everything done, and for me to concentrate on building membership. To the extent that we don't get the meet-running roles, the ones who are in those roles have to work more meets. In general, if we fill all of these slots, we can spread the work out so that the majority aren't enjoying the meets based on the work of very few. Please note that NVSL meet rules this year mandate only 1 timer per lane, so there will be one-third the normal number of timers and we'll need people who just time to branch out into other roles.
Speaking of training, NVSL training is coming up, and it's all virtual this year. Because of missing last year, everyone must recertify! You can sign up for training here. The training will be held the morning of May 22nd. Please don't miss the training!
Let us know if you have any questions, and thanks.
