Another new coach announcement! And please let us know your status as soon as you know...

Great news, we were able to find another top coach to help improve our Lazers' development as swimmers. His name is Wallace Watkins and he's a rising Senior at George Mason and Captain of their team, so he knows swim and will be a big help coaching our swimmers. He will start tomorrow morning, so give him a warm welcome; his complete bio is below. He will also be offering lessons.

Before I share the bio, just a note about availability for swim meets. We realize that people got out of the swing of things in our long, sad break of 2020, but please make sure that if your swimmer is available for a meet that s/he is marked as available. Several parents let us know after the meet was set that their swimmer was available but by then it was too late. Even more critically, if something comes up and a swimmer who was available ends up not available, please let us know ASAP! Prior to Wednesday night is best; prior to 5PM on Thursday is still helpful; but even if it's Saturday morning, it helps reduce chaos and will allow us to get other swimmers into a competitive meet. We had several instances on Saturday when the coaches went to the team area to get a swimmer only to find they hadn't shown up. We understand that emergencies happen, but please let us know. Kate, Catherine, and Lauren spend hours on Wednesday night setting the meet and putting us in the best position to succeed, so please help us out with notice to the extent possible. Thanks!

Wallace's bio: My name is Wallace Watkins and I am currently a rising senior at George Mason University. I'm a marketing major and also a team captain for George Mason Men's Swim team. I have been assisting The FISH club team with their Mini FISH program this past school year where the main focus has been technique work on all 4 strokes for new young swimmers. I'm originally from Raleigh, North Carolina where I swam for The Marlins of Raleigh and was a part of their Junior National Team. Outside of school and swimming I spend my time with friends or family and enjoy golfing, music, and cooking!
