More help with coaching! WE NEED HELP SETTING UP TONIGHT! We still need volunteers! And notes about future meets...
Hi everyone,
I'm glad to report that due to our connections with the FISH program, we have one of their coaches who is willing to volunteer twice a week in the mornings to pull some swimmers aside and help them improve and/or get legal in strokes. The plan now is to have one mini stroke clinic a week and then the other day will be him working on certain technical aspects like take offs or turns or getting kids legal in strokes.
Separately, and more urgently, we need help setting up tonight. Please come if you are able around 8PM to help set up. If you don't, it's just Kate and me running around until 11PM getting it ready, but many hands make light work. Some have asked about pep rallies/team dinners, which for new families we have traditionally had the night before home meets, like tonight. We skipped this one due to past issues with crowding on Friday night at the pool with the food truck, etc. However, we did some brainstorming today and we think for the next meet on July 10th, we can have a pep rally/dessert gathering at the pool around 7 or 7:30PM and then set up. We'll follow up with more information about that as we get closer.
Finally, we still need volunteers for some of the more administrative/coordinating jobs on the swim team. The great news is the season is practically half over, so these jobs are not as big a deal as they once were. Please go to https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0C4EA8AD2BA46-p... and see if there is a job you can help out with. Anything we can take off Kate's and my plate will make this a slightly less frenetic season and allow us to take a breathe every once in a while. However, all the NVSL training is over, so unless you have training we don't know about (extremely unlikely), don't sign up for Referee or Stroke and Turn Judge. We'll work on getting more folks for these positions next season.
Sorry, almost finally; Please remember that if your kid is swimming in a meet, one parent from that family is expected to volunteer during that meet, and you can't all be timers. Kate and I are still scrambling around trying to find volunteers for meets and given the size of the team, this should not be an issue. It would help greatly if we could get a Volunteer Coordinator (see the Sign Up Genius, above) but in any event, if you kid is scheduled to swim tomorrow, please go to this link and sign up for an open job. And show up tonight to set up! And help us clean up after the meet!
Thanks!
