A bunch of important swim team announcements
Hi everyone,
Please read through; I'll try to be as brief as possible but these are critical announcements for the upcoming season.
- WE ARE IN DIVISION 15!!! This is exactly what we wanted; we will swim against Annandale, Herndon, Laurel Hill, Kings Ridge, and Parliament. It's a nice group. The schedule is already on the swim team website. We will send out a separate email begging people to strategize for maximum possible performance when planning vacations.
- MEET THE COACHES NIGHT APRIL 23rd, 5:30-7(ish)PM at LPRC (weather backup at Braddock Baptist Church). Whether you're new to swimming or an old hand, come meet the coaches and get tons of information about the upcoming season! We will feed you (pizza and ice cream), so we need an RSVP at this link. We traditionally have donated the food. Donations toward food cost gratefully accepted.
- LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE MEETING, APRIL 30th, 5:30-6:30 at LPRC: We're going to invite those who have already volunteered for a major job helping with swim team to come, and we'd love it if anyone else who's interested in helping or stepping into one of these roles also come. No obligation for just showing up! Most of these jobs are not huge time commitments but it falls on Kate and me if we don't have people in these roles and it really adds up. If you're already ready to volunteer for something a little more than timing at meets, let me know any time.
- SWIMSUIT FITTING/TRANSITION TEAM ASSESSMENT MAY 24th AT LPRC 5-7PM: Those on the big kid team need a team suit, and this is an opportunity to try one on and buy it on the spot. Additionally, if you're not sure what program your kid belongs in, bring them with a swimsuit and goggles, and Coach Catherine will assess them on this evening. (There will be other opportunities, but it will be MUCH more chaotic once practice begins the next week.) In particular, we have noticed a large number of older kids (7, 8, 9) signed up for Little Lazers and suspect many of these could be on the transitional team or the big kid team. We have a TON of Little Lazers, so anyone ready for more advanced programs helps everyone out. Please consider coming if you're in this situation. IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER: The swimsuit fitting will remain at this time and day but move to Braddock Baptist Church; the assessment will reschedule to May 25th at the pool, 5-7PM.
- Our monthly pizza night fundraiser with the Bradlick Papa John's (See this flyer for details) is tomorrow! Please plan to order pizza and make money for the pool! According to the flyer (NOTE NEW INSTRUCTIONS about pressing option 5!), "When you call to place your order press option 5 to speak with a team member, simply tell the order taker that you are calling for the Lincolnia Park Lazers Spirit Night and that’s it!" Please skip the cooking and raise money for LPRC and the swim team. Please note: no web orders count for us to get credit, so please order like it's 1987 by calling or going to the store!
Thanks! Sorry for the long email, and/or repeat emails - pretty soon everyone will be signed up and that will go away. As a reminder, if you haven't signed up for swim team, please do so at this link.
