Reminder to RSVP for the Lazers Team Leadership meeting if you haven't already! AND THE NVSL TRAINING SCHEDULE IS AVAILABLE - Make plans to attend one of the sessions now!
Hello everyone,
First, a reminder that the LPRC 2022 Team Leadership meeting will be at LPRC on Saturday, May 14th at 6:30PM. We will plan for the season in an attempt to be more organized that we have in the past, which is critical given the growing size of the team. We'll feed you with sandwiches and dessert from Wegman's, which are both quite good. As a result, I need RSVPs, which can be accessed at this link. I need to place the order by roughly noon on Friday, so please get it in NLT than then.
Second, the NVSL has finally released its training schedule. IMPORTANT: This training is for Lazer parents, NOT for Little Lazer parents; we only schedule people who have a kid swimming in a meet, and this obviously doesn't include Little Lazers (lollipop races don't count!). The schedule is attached and also is pasted below.
We're happy to answer questions, but to remind everyone of what we said at Pizza with the Coaches, we're looking to get as many people trained as Stroke and Turn Judges, Starters, and Referees as possible; many hands make light work. If you've never done any of these jobs, start with Stroke and Turn and/or Starter; if you have one or more of these qualifications, think about training as a Referee. (Since Referee "runs the meet", we will break new Referees in easy by shadowing an experienced Referee at at least one meet and then working a B-meet before you have the responsibility of an A-meet.)
As noted in the schedule newer folks must attend in-person training, which don't require registration, but more experienced folks can train virtually but must register. If anyone has questions about the jobs or what to train for or anything else, email Kate at [email protected]. But if you can attend these sessions and get trained, please do. A major focus for this season is spreading out the work of running the meets so no one has to do too much.
Finally, the NVSL hasn't yet scheduled training for data jobs, Chief Timer, clerk of course, or announcer. While we have folks who have done most or all of these jobs in the past, these are additional jobs we would like people to train for to spread out the burden. We will send out future announcements from the NVSL about training for these jobs, but these are also jobs we can train people for during the season. (For Stroke and Turn, Starter, and Referee, NVSL training is mandatory.)
Happy to answer questions, but please RSVP for the leadership meeting if you're planning on coming and please go to NVSL training. Thanks! (Schedule attached and pasted below.)
