WINTER SWIM!!! And need for volunteers!!!

    Hi everyone,

    1. ANNOUNCING Winter swim at The St. James, Saturdays 3-4PM, starting Oct. 1st, ending May 20th, with some weekends off. Coaching led by Coach Catherine and our great coaching staff. Cost is the same as last year: $300 for the first swimmer in a family, $275 for the second, and $250 for any additional swimmers. REGISTER HERE! Right now, this link is exclusive to swim team families and I'll leave it that way for a short time so grab your spot while it's there. I need a head count ASAP because demand is heavy and I'll order more lanes if necessary. However, don't delay because the number of lanes available is not unlimited, so if you wait, you could be out of luck. This program keeps your kids in the water, gets them some exercise, and allows them to progress in swimming over the winter rather than regress. More blah, blah on this below.
    2. Remember that we are hosting Divisionals a week from Saturday and we have the banquet the same day. We will need all hands on deck as volunteers to cover these events. One critical need for a volunteer is someone to clear paths between Holmes Middle School (where we have overflow parking) and LPRC. This will fulfill your work hours for 2022. Please contact me for information.
    3. Remember that we have an ice cream social/pep rally at the pool tomorrow night to get ready for the Herndon meet (7:30PM), decorating of cars (8PM), and deck set up (any time after 8PM). Please come to help us set up for the meet! Free ice cream!

Additional Notes on Winter Swim: Remember that this is more like full Lazers practice than like Little Lazers, so a swimmer has to be able to swim multiple lengths (25 yards at TSJ) unassisted (and the water is deep!). If your swimmer was successful at swim practice this summer s/he should be fine for winter swim. Some younger swimmers might also be ready, but check with us first. If you're not sure, email myself or Kate or talk to Coach Catherine and we can figure it out.

    Thanks!

P.S. We are looking into whether we can offer some enhancements to winter swim starting in February to prepare ourselves for next season. No promises (I have to get the rental space) but these could include stroke clinics before our regular practice and even (maybe, possibly) Little Lazer programs for the more advanced Littles in an attempt to get them ready for the big kid team next year. More to follow.
