    Lazers Report from Week 2

    Although the score did not go in our favor (232 to 152), there were many things to celebrate in last Saturday’s meet against Pleasant Valley. Seventeen swimmers placed 1st in their events, 17 placed 2nd, and 19 placed 3rd. A total of 24 swimmers achieved personal bests.

    Congratulations to the 9-10 boys who swept the fly, and the 15-18 boys who got personal bests in the 50 back. There were a number of close races. Daniela McGhie took second, coming within .03 seconds of her competitor in 9-10 50 free. In 11-12 50 back, Tessa White took third, coming within .04 second of her competitor, and Jordan Adams claimed first in 13-14 50 free, nosing out his competitor by .04 second.

    Congratulations also go to several swimmers who made their A meet debut as a Lazer: Rachel Hinkley, Annabelle Abraham, Nicole Llanos and Cody Velardez.

    Big Dogs Swim up

    Rachel Hinkley, 11, swam up 15-18 50 free and breast

    Annie Snow, 11, swam up 13-14 50 fly

    Nicole Llanos, 7, and Annabelle Abraham, 6, swam up to make 9-10 girls relay happen

    Cameron Meyer, 10, made the 11-12 boys relay happen

    Theo Jenkins, 11, made the 13-14 girls relay happen

    Leana Sapp, 11, made the 15-18 girls relay happen

    Personal Bests

    The following swimmers achieved personal bests in Pleasant Valley. By stroke, these included:

    Kiara Patino, who dropped over 3 seconds 39.32

    Shan Kolb, Paige Dillon, Tessa White, Yvonne White, and Tyler Sapp also dropped time

    Back

    Daniela McGhie broke 1 minute at 59.59 and Cory Pringle (41.02) dropped over 3 seconds

    Shan Kolb, Sarina Meyer, Tessa White, Leana Sapp, Andy Lefbom, Nina Jenkins, Drew White, Cory Pringle, and Grant Jenkins also dropped time

    Breast

    John Kelly (33.40) dropped 6 seconds

    Bridget Murray, Ashley Kelly, Abraham Getahun, Will Moore, Paige Dillon and Drew White dropped time

    Fly

    Kendall Sapp (35.69) dropped more than a second and Angie Snow also dropped time.

    We are now entering the busiest stretch of the swim season, with 5 meets between June 30 and July 12. This includes 2 B meets (June 30 and July 7), 2 A meets (July 5 and 12) and the Division Relay 16 Carnival at our pool on Wednesday, July 9. Let’s go, Lazers!!
