Clarification on swim team evaluations
Sorry for multiple emails, but I've received a couple of questions about evaluations, so I need to clarify here. We have 2 kinds of evaluations: (1) determining whether a swimmer is a Little Lazer or Transitional swimmer or big kid team swimmer (see here for descriptions); or (2) setting a level for a swimmer who is DEFINITELY a Little Lazer. If you are sure your swimmer is a Little Lazer, sign up for the Little Lazer evaluations held the second week of practice (sign up for a slot here, and do so soon, because slots are filling up). One hint is that if your kid can't swim a full length without stopping, they're a Little Lazer, but read the descriptions linked above for more info, and email for questions, particularly about older swimmers.
If you are unsure what level your swimmer is, come to the Transitional assessment, which will be held June 1st, Saturday morning, 8-9AM. (If you can't come then, just talk to Kate, Catherine, or me, and we'll figure it out.) And this is the main point of clarification: a couple of months ago, I stated that we might try to have Transitional evaluations next week at the swim suit fitting. WE WILL NOT! Sorry for the shouting, but while we like to have these evaluations pre-season so those qualified for Transitional can practice during the first week, it's just too cold and there's little prospect of it getting warmer by next week. We've tried this before, but when we evaluate the younger ones when it's freezing, we don't get an accurate reading on their abilities.
Happy to answer questions.
