When to practice! Some notes on practice! Little Lazers start date! Bring water! Private lessons!
Hi everyone,
We've had a tremendous start to the swim team season, and the coaches are doing an amazing job managing the chaos and still teaching swimming. To help them out with this, here are some important announcements:
- The practice schedule is here, but the bottom line is that 11 and older are 5-6PM until school lets out and 10 and under are 6-7PM. Please come to your assigned practice time, it's already difficult enough with the numbers and the coaches can't manage different age groups in the wrong practice.
- Please do not stand next to the pool and/or attempt to film or, most critically, to coach your swimmers. Parents standing next to the lanes is distracting for all swimmers. Our coaches are very well qualified and it's just confusing for the kids if parents are also coaching them. Also, allowing them to participate in practice without parental involvement will build independence. Filming is prohibited because you don't have permission from other parents to film their kids. If you have any concerns about what you're seeing your kids do in the water, feel free to talk to me or Kate or to one of the coaches before or after practice, but not during - they're busy coaching!
- Little Lazers starts June 18th!
- All swimmers should have water at practice and not just for dry land - even though they're all wet, the do get thirsty from the workout.
Finally, we are ready to start assigning private swim lessons - they'll start once school lets out but you can request lessons now. Please see the forms at this page and notice that there are different forms for big Lazers vs. Little Lazers. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm giving swim team families a head start so sign up now.
Finally, finally, don't forget the carwash/pep rally SUG and the Chik-Fil-A SUG. We'd like to see as many folks as possible at both events.
Thanks!
