Early season activities (read to the end for an exciting announcement about a racing clinic first day of morning practice)

A few announcements about activities in the early season:

    1. Our team swimsuit fitting is at LPRC on Thursday, 5:30-7:30PM. You will be able to get fitted for and purchase a team-logo racing swimsuit. Note: competitive swimmers who will be in meets will need one of these suits or a plain black racing suit; Little Lazers don’t have to. The suits you will buy from our vendor, are very nice, but if you’re looking for a less expensive option, we can direct you to online ordering options. (The only drawback is that the suit won’t have a team logo.) Unless you know for sure what kind of suit to order, if you’re ordering online, please talk to Kate or Catherine before ordering so we make sure you get the right kind. If you need help with sizing, you can come to the fitting and then order online. Finally, if you can’t come to the try on but still want a team suit, you can always go to Sportfair in Arlington and tell them you’re from LPRC, and they’ll sell you a team suit.
    2. If you need a swim cap/missed the early ordering window/didn't want to switch to a more expensive silicone cap (we didn't hit the minimum for the merchandise store latex caps), you can fill out this form and we have extra latex non-personalized we will sell to you. First come, first serve.
    3. First practice for Transitionals/Big Lazers is Tuesday, May 27, schedule here. Little Lazers start June 12th, and we will send out announcements about signing up for assessments and morning slots soon. If you're not sure if your swimmer is a Little Lazer/Transitional/Big Lazer, look below for information about Transitional Assessments. NOTE: Until June 12th, our entire team practices in the afternoon in just 4 lanes because the pool is open and we're sharing with members. It gets pretty chaotic, so if you're not sure about the level of your swimmer, it probably makes sense to wait for the assessment.
    4. Our second biggest fundraiser of the year, 5 Guys night, is on May 27 to celebrate the beginning of the season! (Flyer attached.) Please make plans to skip cooking and get some burgers to raise us some money. (Future fundraisers include Taco Bamba on June 3rd and La Madeline on June 9th.)
    5. Our only Saturday morning practice, for all Big Lazers and Transitionals, will be on Saturday morning, May 31st, with a pancake breakfast to follow. We're still working on the schedule for this, but we do need folks to sign up for the breakfast to brings stuff and help cook: here is the link for that. On that day, we will have Transitional Assessments, time TBD. (Note, this is a separate assessment, than for Little Lazers levels - May 31st is to determine, for those unsure, whether your kid is a Little, Transitional, or Big; the Little Lazers assessments are later, and determine what level within the Little Lazers program your kid is.)
    6. Our biggest fundraiser of the year, our carwash, is scheduled for June 6th, 6-8PM, at Braddock Baptist Church, just down the street from LPRC. We raised $1000 last year, so this is a big deal. We need volunteers, so please sign up here! That same night, Chick-Fil-A will be at the pool selling dinners, 5-7PM, as part of the fundraiser, but we need to guarantee enough interest for them to come, so please sign up here.
    7. Keep in mind the officials training; we are getting folks trained up as referees and starters, but still need more. The training schedule is attached.
    8. Finally, last but certainly not least, Bob York will be back at LPRC to give us a racing clinic on June 12th, the first day or morning practice. This is the last clinic Bob will ever give (he's retiring and said no to many others who asked) but is willing to come in only for LPRC because he loves us. If you are an afternoon practicer, I urge you to see if you can come to the morning practice for this special event. NOTE: This clinic will have a special schedule, 11 and over, 9-10AM, 10 and under 10-11AM; Little Lazers their regular times; Transitional swimmers can come one last time in the afternoon instead of the morning.

All of these events and others, and the full meet schedule are available on our swim team website. Lots of exciting stuff to come!
